Shift: 3:30pm – 7:30pm
Contract: Permanent, part-time – 42 weeks per year
About the Role
ICS Facility Services is looking for a reliable, hardworking and proactive School Site Supervisor / Caretaker to join our team at Inskip St Peter’s CE Primary School in Inskip, Preston.
This is a hands-on role with cleaning as the main responsibility, alongside general caretaking, site security, routine compliance checks and basic maintenance duties.
You will play an important role in ensuring the school remains clean, safe, secure and well maintained, providing a welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently, uses their initiative and is confident taking responsibility for the day-to-day cleanliness and general care of the school site.
Working Hours & Pay
- Monday to Friday
- 3:30pm – 7:30pm
- 4 hours per day
- 20 hours per week
- £14.00 per hour
- 42 weeks per year
- 39 weeks during school term time
- 3 weeks of deep cleaning during the summer school closure
- Annual leave must be taken during periods of school closure
Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Site Care
- Carry out cleaning duties throughout the school
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets and communal areas
- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors
- Clean and sanitise surfaces and touchpoints
- Empty bins and dispose of waste appropriately
- Replenish cleaning and washroom consumables
- Monitor cleaning and site stock levels
- Order supplies when required
- Complete additional and deep-cleaning duties during the summer closure
- Maintain the general cleanliness and presentation of the school
Caretaking & General Maintenance
- Carry out minor repairs and remedial works
- Undertake basic repairs to taps and toilet cisterns
- Fit shelves and notice boards where required
- Maintain toilet facilities
- Deal with minor blocked toilets and drains
- Identify and report maintenance issues requiring specialist attention
- Undertake general porterage and move equipment when required
Site Security
- Lock and secure the school premises at the end of the working day
- Operate and set alarm systems as required
- Check doors, windows and access points
- Report security concerns promptly
Health, Safety & Compliance
Undertake and record routine site checks, with training provided where required. These may include:
- Fire alarms
- Emergency lighting
- Fire extinguishers
- Water testing
- Play equipment
- Ladders and other site equipment
Any faults, hazards or concerns must be reported promptly.
External Areas
- Keep school grounds safe and tidy
- Clear leaves, moss and other debris
- Keep drains clear of obstructions
- Maintain safe pedestrian access
- Grit paths during icy conditions
- Assist with snow clearance during severe weather
- Report external hazards or damage
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy

- Comfortable working independently
- Well organised with good time-management skills
- Committed to maintaining high cleaning standards
- Comfortable carrying out basic maintenance and handyperson duties
- Able to identify and report maintenance or safety issues
- A good verbal and written communicator
- Willing to complete required training
- Comfortable undertaking reasonable lifting and manual-handling duties
Previous cleaning, caretaking or general maintenance experience would be an advantage.
Previous experience working within a school or similar environment would also be beneficial but is not essential.
