Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Lunchtime Assistant to support our Nursery during the midday break. This role involves supervising children, ensuring their safety, and fostering a positive lunchtime environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and possess excellent organisational skills. Previous experience in childcare, teaching, nannying, or similar roles is advantageous. Fluency in English is essential, and knowledge of French is a plus. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and development of pupils while working within a supportive team. Working hours will be between 11.30-2.30 or 12-3.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children during lunchtime, ensuring their safety and wellbeing at all times
- Assist children with opening lunchboxes and eating meals in a polite and friendly manner
- Encourage positive social interactions and good manners among pupils
- Maintain cleanliness of the dining area and ensure tables are cleared promptly after use
- Support children with behavioural issues in a calm and constructive manner
- Assist with setting up lunchtime activities or games when appropriate
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure smooth transition between lessons and lunchtime routines
- Monitor children’s behaviour and report any concerns to senior staff

Qualifications
- Previous experience in childcare, teaching, nannying, or similar roles is desirable
- Ability to work effectively with children of various ages
- Good communication skills in English
- Organised, patient, and approachable nature with a genuine interest in supporting children's development
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions diligently
- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the nursery environment
