We’re looking for someone who loves being outdoors and wants to help people to enjoy it in their own way. Our Active Outdoors Assistant role is all about giving people a warm welcome, offering helpful advice and maintaining the area to high standards for everyone to enjoy. Whether it’s supporting craft activity areas, re-stocking the dressing up box or joining in at story-time, you’ll play a key part in making sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Salary: £13.25 per hour
Contract: Fixed term contract until 06-Sep-2026
Hour/ working pattern: Part-time, 30 hours per week
Interview date: Friday 12th June 2026
This role is required to work with vulnerable groups including children and any offer of employment or volunteering is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
What it's like to work here:Knightshayes is a vibrant place to work. Comprising of an award-winning garden, Gothic Revival mansion, Victorian kitchen garden and Stables courtyard with café, shop and bookshop. You will mainly be working outside, in our new play hub situated in and around the walled kitchen garden. As part of the Visitor Experience team, you will be supported to deliver high standards of presentation and play in this area.

What you'll be doing:Your job is all about creating the best possible experience for everyone. You’ll chat to people to answer any questions they may have, while also keeping an eye on the overall presentation of the play hub. You will also support the external experience providers by helping to get the visitors involved.
