New Formation Education are working with a number of forward-thinking, inclusive primary school in South West London that are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their autism support team.
This is a rewarding and hands-on role, ideal for someone with a calm presence, a team spirit, and a desire to support neurodiverse children to achieve their full potential.
About the Role:
You’ll be working with a small number of pupils with autism, delivering tailored support in both 1:1 and group settings. You’ll help them access learning, manage routines, and develop social and communication skills—all within a nurturing and structured environment.
Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting pupils with autism both inside and outside the classroom.
- Implementing strategies such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory tools.
- Encouraging communication, emotional regulation, and positive interaction.
- Assisting with classroom activities, transitions, and daily routines.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children with autism or additional needs (school-based experience preferred).
- A calm, empathetic, and flexible approach to learning support.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies and a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting every child’s potential.
