Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Nursery Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing nursery activities, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in early childhood education and management to contribute to the development and well-being of young children while supporting the nursery team. The Deputy Nursery Manager will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of childcare and organisational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily nursery operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Support staff in delivering high-quality childcare and early childhood education programmes tailored to children's developmental needs.
- Supervise and motivate nursery staff, fostering a positive team environment centred on teamwork and professional growth.
- Engage with children to promote their social, emotional, and educational development through age-appropriate activities.
- Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress and nursery policies.
- Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support recruitment processes as required.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are strictly followed, conducting regular risk assessments and safeguarding checks.
- Assist in planning curriculum activities that stimulate learning whilst ensuring compliance with early years frameworks.
- Support the Nursery Manager in managing administrative tasks, including record keeping and reporting.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children within a nursery or early childhood education setting.
- Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and early years curriculum standards.
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Early Childhood Education or equivalent are essential.
- Experience in nursery management or supervisory roles is highly desirable.
- Ability to organise tasks efficiently whilst maintaining attention to detail.
- Valid driving licence is preferred to support operational needs across multiple sites if required.
- A caring attitude combined with professionalism and organisational skills is essential for success in this role.
