We are a busy and established accountancy firm in North London looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper / Client Accounts Manager to join our team.
This is a hands-on role primarily focused on bookkeeping and accounts for a varied portfolio of clients. The successful candidate will manage multiple client accounts, ensuring their bookkeeping and financial records are accurate, up to date and completed within the required deadlines.
The role will also include responsibility for overseeing our payroll team, ensuring payroll across our client portfolio is managed accurately and efficiently.
We are looking for someone with at least 10 years’ experience in bookkeeping, accounting and finance, preferably with substantial experience working within an accountancy practice and managing multiple clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage bookkeeping and day-to-day accounts for a portfolio of clients
- Maintain purchase, sales and nominal ledgers
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare and review VAT returns
- Prepare accounts to trial balance
- Assist with management accounts and financial reporting
- Review client records and resolve discrepancies
- Liaise directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and accounting queries
- Manage multiple client workloads and deadlines
- Oversee the payroll team responsible for processing client payrolls
- Deal with more complex or escalated payroll matters where required
- Support and supervise junior members of the bookkeeping/accounts team
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy and client service
- Help improve internal systems, procedures and controls
About You
- Minimum 10 years’ bookkeeping/accounts experience
- Strong accountancy practice experience, ideally managing a portfolio of clients
- Excellent practical bookkeeping and accounting knowledge
- Strong understanding of VAT and reconciliations
- Experience preparing accounts to trial balance
- Good understanding of payroll and the ability to oversee a payroll team
- Confident dealing directly with a wide variety of clients
- Able to prioritise and manage numerous client deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong Excel and accounting software skills
- Able to work independently while supervising and supporting other team members
- Professional, dependable and confident in client communication
Salary & Benefits
£45,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience
