Senior Care Assistant
- Rate of Pay: £15.22 per hour
- Hours: 22.5hrs per week (Days).
The Senior Care Assistant is part of the Care Home’s senior management team and is required to professionally lead the care team during each shift, ensuring that a high standard of person-centred care is provided to the residents of the Care Home in accordance with their assessed needs. They will ensure that a safe, effective and efficient care service is provided, which enhances the life of each individual.
The Senior Care Assistant will supervise and support the care team to create a warm, comfortable, friendly, homely environment for residents, and in accordance with the Care Quality Commission standards, the safeguarding policy and the philosophy of the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
- NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care, or equivalent is required for the role!
We're looking for a compassionate and experienced Senior Care Assistant to lead and support the care team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead, support and supervise Care Assistants during each shift.
- Deliver and oversee personal care in line with individual care plans.
- Promote residents' independence, dignity, choice and wellbeing.
- Monitor residents' physical and emotional wellbeing, reporting changes and supporting care plan reviews.
- Coordinate care plans and work closely with managers and healthcare professionals.
- Support mealtimes, activities, appointments and social outings.
- Ensure key worker responsibilities are completed and monitored.
- Provide compassionate end-of-life care, maintaining dignity and supporting families.
About you:
- Caring, reliable and organised.
- Experience in a senior care role.
- NVQ Level 3.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Passionate about delivering outstanding, person-centred care..
What you'll be doing
- Support the Registered Manager and lead the home in their absence, ensuring safe, high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate, person-centred care plans and digital records, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals and the wider team.
- Lead shift handovers, supervise and mentor staff, and support training and development.
- Help coordinate appointments, visits, staffing rotas and day-to-day operations.
- Promote a safe, clean and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and colleagues.
- Act as a positive role model, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality and high standards of care at all times.
- Work flexibly to meet the changing needs of residents and the service.
