Night Porter Job Description
Position: Night Porter
Location: Weston Manor Hotel
Hours: 5 nights per week (2 days off on a rota basis)
Reporting To: Front of House Manager / General Manager
Job Purpose
The Night Porter is responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe, and professional operation of Weston Manor Hotel during overnight hours. The role involves guest service, late check-ins, security checks, fire safety compliance, and completion of Front of House duties to ensure the hotel is fully prepared for the following day.
Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service
- Welcome guests arriving late and complete check-in procedures efficiently and professionally.
- Assist guests with enquiries and requests throughout the night.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns calmly and escalate where necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service in line with Weston Manor Hotel standards.
Front of House Duties
- Complete all outstanding Front of House tasks before the end of the shift.
- Prepare reception and public areas for the following day's operations.
- Ensure guest information and bookings are accurately recorded.
- Monitor hotel communication channels and respond appropriately.
Safety & Security
- Conduct regular security patrols of the hotel and grounds.
- Ensure all doors, entrances, and public areas are secure.
- Monitor CCTV and report any suspicious activity.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and incidents.
Fire Safety & Compliance
- Fully understand and comply with the hotel's fire safety procedures.
- Carry out nightly fire safety checks as required.
- Respond effectively in the event of a fire alarm or emergency evacuation.
- Ensure emergency exits and escape routes remain clear at all times.
- Record and report any fire safety concerns immediately.
Housekeeping & General Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of reception and public areas overnight.
- Assist with basic housekeeping tasks as required.
- Support other departments when necessary to ensure smooth hotel operations.
RequirementsEssential
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions during overnight shifts.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and professional.
- Comfortable handling late guest arrivals and overnight guest requests.
- Understanding of health, safety, and fire procedures.
- Ability to complete tasks accurately and efficiently without supervision.
Preferred
- Previous hotel, hospitality, or night porter experience.
- Experience using hotel booking or property management systems.
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
