We are looking for a reliable, hard-working Yard Operative / Forklift Driver to join our Aldershot team.

The Role
This is a physically active, hands-on position within a busy merchant yard. The role combines forklift operation, manual handling, and general site duties, supporting both customers and delivery operations. It suits someone who is practical, organised, and comfortable working in a fast-moving outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Loading and unloading customer vehicles safely and efficiently
- Loading company delivery vehicles
- Picking and preparing customer orders accurately
- Operating forklift equipment confidently and responsibly
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised yard
- Restocking displays and managing stock locations
- Organising the yard to maximise space and efficiency
- Carrying out routine stock checks
- General site cleaning and upkeep
- Basic maintenance and outdoor duties (strimming, clearing rubbish, minor repairs, etc.)
- Assisting with site improvements and display building
- Opening and securing yard areas in line with procedures
Working Hours
Monday – Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am – 12:00pm (one Saturday off per month)
Breaks
- 1 hour unpaid lunch
- Additional breaks totalling 1 hour unpaid
Bank Holidays
- Paid bank holidays
- If a bank holiday falls on a Monday, the preceding Saturday is not worked
What We’re Looking For
- Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Ability to work at pace in a busy yard environment
- Good spatial awareness and organisation
- Proactive attitude — able to prepare ahead for deliveries
- Basic maths skills
- Able to travel to work independently
- Forklift licence (current or previously held)
- Builders’ merchant or roofing merchant experience desirable
Experience & Training
- Industry experience reflected in pay level
- Full in-house training provided
- Structured support from experienced team members during onboarding
