Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Motor Vehicle Technician / Master Mechanic to join our professional team.
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced mechanic with a minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles. This is a senior position requiring an individual who can confidently undertake the most complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic diagnostic work with minimal supervision.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 15 years of proven experience as a professional motor vehicle technician/mechanic.
- Extensive knowledge of petrol, diesel, hybrid, and modern vehicle systems.
- Ability to independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Strong understanding of modern vehicle electronics, control modules, and diagnostic systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy workshop.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
Technical Skills Required
The successful candidate must have experience in the following areas:
Advanced Diagnostics
- Advanced fault diagnosis using manufacturer-level and multi-brand diagnostic equipment.
- Reading and interpreting live data, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Electrical and electronic fault diagnosis.
- CAN Bus network diagnostics.
- ECU diagnosis, programming support, and replacement.
- Sensor and actuator testing.
- Oscilloscope testing.
- Battery management system diagnostics.
- Hybrid vehicle diagnostics.
- Charging and starting system diagnostics.
- DPF diagnosis, regeneration, and repairs.
- AdBlue (SCR) system diagnosis and repairs.
- ABS, ESP, SRS (airbag), TPMS, and electronic parking brake diagnostics.
- Air conditioning diagnostics and repair.
Engine Repairs
- Engine diagnostics and performance issues.
- Timing belt and timing chain replacement.
- Cylinder head repairs and head gasket replacement.
- Turbocharger diagnosis and replacement.
- Fuel injector testing, replacement, and coding.
- Petrol and diesel fuel system repairs.
- Engine rebuilds and engine replacements.
- Cooling system diagnosis and repairs.
- Oil leak diagnosis and repair.
Transmission & Drivetrain
- Clutch replacement.
- Dual-mass flywheel replacement.
- Manual gearbox repairs and replacement.
- Automatic transmission diagnostics.
- Driveshaft and CV joint replacement.
- Differential diagnosis and repairs.
Suspension, Steering & Brakes
- Suspension system diagnosis and repairs.
- Steering system repairs.
- Wheel bearings.
- Control arms, bushes, and ball joints.
- Shock absorbers and springs.
- Brake system diagnostics.
- Brake discs, pads, calipers, and hydraulic repairs.
- ABS system repairs.
- Wheel alignment knowledge.
Electrical & Electronic Systems
- Wiring repairs.
- Alternators and starter motors.
- Lighting system repairs.
- Instrument cluster faults.
- Immobiliser systems.
- Central locking.
- Electric windows.
- Parking sensors.
- Reverse cameras.
- Infotainment and comfort system diagnostics.
Servicing & Maintenance
- Routine servicing to manufacturer specifications.
- Vehicle health checks.
- Preventative maintenance.
- MOT preparation and repair work.
Preferred Experience
- MOT Tester qualification (advantageous but not essential).
- Experience working on BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo, Ford, Vauxhall, Toyota, Nissan, Peugeot, Citroën, Renault, and other major vehicle manufacturers.
- Experience using diagnostic platforms such as Autel, Launch, Bosch, Snap-on, or manufacturer-specific diagnostic software.
- Previous experience mentoring or supervising junior technicians.
