Hart Plain Care is a home that supports vulnerable adults with learning disabilities. Our service users range in age from 18 to end of life. We have the capacity to house seven service users. Most of our residents have been with us for many years and have developed strong, trusting relationships with both fellow residents and our dedicated staff.
We have dual registration, enabling us to provide continuous support for as long as our service users need it. The team at Hart Plain Care is very supportive of one another, always ready to help colleagues. During the Covid-19 pandemic, our team went above and beyond their duties, for which I, as the Manager, am incredibly grateful. They have protected, supported, and maintained the safety of both the service users and their colleagues.
Our aim is to promote independence and choice, and our utmost priority is to safeguard while maintaining the overall health and well-being of everyone in our care. Being a support worker is highly rewarding. We not only assist with essential daily care but also help service users achieve new targets and goals. Seeing a smile and a gain in confidence in the person you support is an incredibly special feeling.
During the pandemic, our service users have not been attending day services, so we have arranged numerous arts, crafts, and games to keep everyone engaged and positive. Our strict infection control measures have been effective in keeping everyone safe and well.
Training is crucial. You will be required to complete in-house training and should have completed or be working towards your NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. We also encourage further training and will support you in achieving your personal goals.
Job Description
Hart Plain Care is a small, family-run care home with seven bedrooms, supporting vulnerable adults with mild learning disabilities. We are looking for a kind individual who wants to make a difference in people's lives. You will support all daily living care needs, such as personal care, cooking, cleaning, and assisting service users in achieving new targets and goals outlined in their personal care plans.
Our purpose is to promote independence and choice, with safeguarding and maintaining overall health and well-being as our highest priorities. This is a part-time position with the opportunity for overtime. You will begin with a three-month contract, which will be reviewed. If successful, a permanent contract will be offered.
This position includes:
- Day duties
- Sleep-in night duties
- Weekend shifts
It's important that the applicant can work both day and night shifts and be available for weekend work on a two-week rota. Duties will include:
- Cleaning
- Cooking
- Recording information
- Opening and closing checks
- Personal care
- Administering medication
- Organizing games and activities
- Answering phone calls
Training is vital. You will be required to complete in-house training and should have completed or be working towards your NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care. We can assist you with starting your training and encourage further development, supporting you in achieving your personal goals.
You must have a clear DBS check, which we will apply for at our cost. However, if you leave before the three-month trial, you will be required to reimburse this cost to Hart Plain Care. Applicants must be proficient in English, as our service users have learning disabilities, making clear communication essential, especially in one-to-one interactions.
