Fork Lift Truck Driver / Warehouse OperativeJob Summary
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated Fork Lift Truck Driver to join our busy warehouse operation in Leeds.
This is a hands-on role requiring somebody who is confident and experienced on a Counterbalance FLT, works at a good pace and can be trusted to get on with the job without constant supervision.
We are looking for an experienced driver, not simply somebody who holds an FLT licence. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, loading, unloading and storage of palletised goods while helping maintain an organised and productive warehouse.
Duties
- Safely operate Counterbalance forklift trucks throughout the warehouse
- Load and unload HGVs, trailers and containers
- Move, stack and retrieve heavy palletised goods safely and accurately
- Ensure loads are stable, correctly positioned and handled without damage
- Check incoming and outgoing loads against relevant paperwork
- Record stock movements accurately
- Assist with goods-in, despatch and general warehouse operations
- Carry out daily FLT and equipment checks
- Report any equipment defects or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Assist with stock counts and inventory checks when required
- Work independently and use initiative to keep warehouse operations moving efficiently
Skills & Experience
- Valid Counterbalance FLT licence – essential
- Strong recent, daily Counterbalance FLT driving experience – essential
- Proven experience loading and unloading HGVs
- Experience handling and stacking heavy palletised loads
- Confident working at pace while maintaining safe and accurate FLT operation
- Good understanding of load stability, stacking and warehouse safety
- Good attention to detail when checking loads and recording stock movements
- Reliable with excellent attendance and timekeeping
- Able to work independently and use initiative without constant supervision
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced warehouse environment
- Willing to assist with general warehouse duties when required
- References from previous employers will be required
This is a permanent position for the right person. We are looking for somebody who takes pride in their work, turns up reliably, works hard and is genuinely experienced and confident operating a forklift truck.
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
