Yard supervisor

Brick Fabrication Ltd is a leading manufacturer of pre-fabricated building products for UK house building and construction industries.
We wish to recruit an experienced Yard supervisor to take full responsibility for the safe operations and development of a busy manufacturing yard, including stock movements and storage of raw materials and stock replenishment.
The role of Yard supervisor is a key position, reporting to the Production Manager and will initially involve a project to organize, set up processes and implement procedures.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of managing two yards to deliver the company needs
- Manage the Health & Safety of yard areas
- Ensure the yards are kept clean and tidy and well organized at all times and lead on implementing 5s and lean continuous improvement plans
- Implement and maintain a yard plan for locating and identifying brick stocks
- Implement and maintain a Goods Inwards / Outwards procedure
- Manage timely and effective loading and offloading of delivery vehicles
- Responsible for yard plant and machinery and stock levels of consumables including pallets, gas and waste removal within set budget and identify and implement efficiency savings and waste reduction schemes
- First point of contact for all yard related enquiries with customers, suppliers and staff
- Assist in monthly stock take routines
- Coordinate effective communication between all departments.
- Monitor adherence to regulations, company values, policies and procedures
- Carry out other duties and cover to other departments, where required, to meet the needs of the business.
- Move bricks from yard to factory holding area as and when required for production teams
The Person
- You will have several years’ experience of working in a busy yard
- Hold a current FLT Counterbalance licence
- You will have experience of managing health & safety within a yard environment
- You will be resilient to working outside
- You will need to be an excellent communicator, enthusiastic and self-motivated, someone who will enjoy the challenges that the position brings
- Positive attitude towards work with an excellent attendance record
The Package
- Hours of Work – 40 hours per week (Additional weekend and/or shift working may be required)
- Rate of Pay – Monthly, to be agreed and dependant on experience.
