The Role
Fix Auto Buckingham is looking for a highly experienced Automotive Paint Prepper / Spray Painter to join our busy accident repair centre in Brackley.
The primary focus of the role will be high-quality vehicle preparation; however, the successful candidate must also be competent in automotive spray painting and confident carrying out paintwork when required.
We are looking for someone with extensive bodyshop experience who can work independently, takes genuine pride in their workmanship and understands the standards required within a professional accident repair environment.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
- Preparing vehicle panels and components ready for paint
- Sanding and flatting panels to achieve the correct finish
- Masking vehicles and panels accurately prior to painting
- Priming and preparing surfaces to the required standard
- Preparing new and repaired panels ready for the paint process
- Spraying vehicle panels and components when required
- Applying basecoat, clearcoat and other automotive refinishing products to a high standard
- Using automotive paint mixing schemes and colour-matching systems
- Mixing paint accurately in accordance with manufacturer and paint system specifications
- Selecting and checking colour variants prior to application
- Carrying out spray-out cards and colour checks where required
- Identifying and rectifying preparation or paint defects
- Working closely with painters and panel technicians to maintain an efficient workflow
- Ensuring vehicles are correctly protected throughout the repair process
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working area
- Working in accordance with manufacturer repair methods, BSI requirements, health & safety procedures and our internal bodyshop quality standards
About You
We are ideally looking for a candidate with 5–10 years' experience working within an automotive bodyshop or accident repair environment.
You should:
- Be an experienced Automotive Paint Prepper / Spray Painter
- Be capable of preparing vehicles independently to a consistently high standard
- Be competent and confident in automotive spray painting
- Have extensive knowledge of sanding, masking, priming and paint preparation techniques
- Have experience using professional paint mixing schemes and colour-matching systems
- Understand colour variants, paint mixing and refinishing processes
- Have excellent attention to detail
- Take pride in producing a high-quality finish
- Be able to work efficiently within a busy, target-driven bodyshop
- Be reliable, punctual and a strong team player
- Understand the importance of productivity without compromising repair quality
Experience working within a BSI Kitemark-certified accident repair centre would be advantageous.

Practical Work Trial
Any offer of a full-time position will be subject to the successful completion of a practical work trial.
The trial will allow us to assess your preparation, spraying, colour matching and paint-mixing abilities, along with the overall quality and efficiency of your work.
Pay: £40,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
