Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
We are recruiting for an experienced Site Facilities & Maintenance Engineer to take practical ownership of day-to-day facilities support within a busy food manufacturing environment.
This is a standalone role combining hands-on maintenance, contractor coordination, supplier management and facilities-related compliance.
The successful individual will have a strong engineering or maintenance background and be comfortable resolving straightforward issues themselves where safe and appropriate, while knowing when specialist contractor support is required.
Previous experience within food manufacturing is essential.
Main ResponsibilitiesSite Facilities & Maintenance

Carry out general facilities maintenance and minor repair work across the site.

Complete basic plumbing tasks including leaking taps, toilet fittings and similar repairs.

Undertake minor electrical work where appropriately qualified and competent.

Change light fittings and support emergency lighting checks.

Replace air filters and water dispenser filters.

Respond to day-to-day site issues in a practical and timely manner.

Support the safe movement of equipment and other items where required.
Contractor & Supplier Management

Identify and source appropriate specialist contractors where required.

Obtain quotations and support cost comparisons.

Coordinate and manage contractors working on site.

Liaise with suppliers regarding repairs, servicing, parts and ongoing contracts.

Ensure contractor work is completed safely and to the required standard.

Maintain appropriate contractor and supplier records.
Safety & Compliance

Support routine checks of fire alarms and other site safety equipment.

Assist with emergency lighting inspections and remedial actions.

Support the preparation of facilities-related risk assessments.

Carry out or coordinate testing of water and air systems where required.

Maintain facilities, maintenance and compliance records.

Support the Health & Safety team with facilities-related actions.
Site Support
-
Work closely with Engineering, Operations and Health & Safety.

Prioritise competing facilities issues within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Maintain clear records, quotations and basic site documentation.

Take ownership of facilities issues through to completion.

Identify practical opportunities to reduce unnecessary contractor spend by resolving suitable issues internally.
What We’re Looking For
You will need:

Previous experience within a food manufacturing environment.

A strong practical engineering, maintenance or facilities background.

Relevant engineering, maintenance or technical qualifications.

Experience carrying out general facilities maintenance and fault finding.

Experience managing external contractors and suppliers.

Good understanding of safe working practices and risk assessments.

Good computer skills and the ability to maintain records and documentation.

The confidence to work independently and take ownership of day-to-day site facilities issues.
Experience with plumbing, electrical work, emergency lighting, fire safety systems, air filtration or water systems would be particularly useful.
Role Scope
This position focuses on site facilities, general maintenance, contractor coordination and facilities compliance.
Production machinery is managed separately by the wider Engineering team and does not form part of the core responsibility of this role.
There is currently no formal on-call requirement.
