We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join an innovative and exciting Care Leavers Project. The successful candidate will be employed on a 2 year fixed-term TEWV contract for the duration of this pioneering initiative.
This role will support the enhancement and expansion of psychological support available to care leavers across North Yorkshire, building on existing provision while contributing to the development of new, co-produced and collaborative offers where appropriate.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, due to the part time hours the starting salary for this role would not meet the required salary threshold for this post to be eligible for sponsorship under the Health and Care (Skilled Worker) visa. Working under the supervision of qualified psychologists and alongside clinical leads and partner agencies, you will play an important role in supporting psychologically trauma-responsive leaving care services. You will become part of an established multi-agency network across PIPA, Children's Services and a wide range of partner organisations.
A key aspect of the role will be supporting care leavers to access appropriate services and resources. This will include helping young people navigate local support systems, identifying suitable pathways for care, promoting engagement, and supporting early intervention approaches that reduce the likelihood of difficulties escalating. The postholder will also assist young people to connect with community, voluntary and peer-support opportunities.
The Assistant Psychologist will contribute to service development by supporting the implementation and evaluation of new initiatives, group programmes and targeted interventions for specific groups of care leavers. They will assist in developing resources, gathering feedback from young people and professionals, and identifying opportunities to improve service accessibility and effectiveness.

- Degree in psychology
- Eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
- Post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis.
- Some experience of people using services in psychological, mental health and/or social care settings. This may include, for example, personal experience or supporting a family member to access services.
- Experience in discussing and responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality and inclusivity, including working with vulnerable groups (e.g. those for whom English is not their first language).
- Experience of communicating sensitive information
