Maintenance Team MemberThe Reach at Piccadilly Manchester, Tribute Portfolio by Marriott
We're looking for someone who can fix things, figure things out and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
The Reach at Piccadilly Manchester is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Maintenance Team Member to join our growing team.
We’re a two-year-old hotel in the heart of Manchester, so thankfully you won’t be spending your days trying to bring a 40-year-old boiler back from the dead.
But even a shiny new hotel needs someone who knows what they’re doing when a door decides it doesn’t want to close, a tap starts playing up or something just isn't quite working as it should.
That’s where you come in.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of our Maintenance Team, you’ll help keep The Reach looking great and running smoothly behind the scenes.
You’ll be the person who gets the call when something needs fixing, something needs checking or something simply isn't doing what it’s supposed to.
Your day could include:
- Carrying out general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel.
- Keeping our 215 guest bedrooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces in great condition.
- Responding quickly to maintenance requests from guests and colleagues.
- Carrying out routine checks and preventative maintenance.
- Tackling basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and general building jobs.
- Spotting potential problems before they become bigger ones.
- Working with contractors and specialist engineers when a job needs a little more expertise.
- Keeping your tools, equipment and maintenance areas organised.
- Recording work completed and reporting anything that needs escalating.
- Working with the wider hotel team to make sure our guests have a brilliant experience.
In short: if it’s broken, you’ll help fix it. If it looks like it might break, you’ll try to stop it.
Who Are We Looking For?
We're not necessarily looking for someone who has a piece of paper for every skill under the sun.
We're looking for someone practical, switched-on and good with their hands who takes pride in doing a job properly.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, engineering or a similar hands-on role.
- Good general building maintenance knowledge.
- Experience with areas such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC and basic carpentry.
- A natural ability to troubleshoot and work out what's causing a problem.
- Good attention to detail — because it's usually the little things guests notice.
- The ability to work on your own initiative while knowing when to call in the experts.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner.
- A good understanding of health and safety.
- The flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays when required.
Most importantly, we want someone who cares. Someone who sees something that needs doing and gets on with it rather than walking past it.
