Calibration Technician
Grade 3 | Full Time | Day Shift | 4 on, 4 off | 12 Hour Shifts

About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Calibration Technician to join our Quality Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in calibration and measurement systems who enjoys working in a precision-focused manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the calibration, verification, control, and maintenance of monitoring and measuring equipment across the site. The role also supports pyrometry activities in accordance with AMS2750, helping to maintain compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Calibration & Measurement Equipment
- Perform internal calibration and verification of measuring and test equipment.
- Ensure all equipment remains traceable to national and international standards.
- Manage the identification, issue, status, and recall of calibrated equipment.
- Maintain accurate calibration records using the company calibration management system.
- Investigate out-of-calibration equipment and support impact assessments.
- Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities, including Gauge R&R studies.
- Manage stock levels of measuring and test equipment and raise purchase orders when required.
External Calibration
- Coordinate external calibration, repair, and maintenance activities with approved suppliers.
- Review calibration certificates for compliance, traceability, and acceptance.
- Raise purchase order requests relating to external calibration activities.
Pyrometry
- Carry out pyrometry activities in support of special process operations.
- Conduct System Accuracy Tests (SATs) on furnaces and instrumentation.
- Complete Temperature Uniformity Surveys (TUS).
- Maintain pyrometry records and support compliance during NADCAP audits.
Continuous Improvement & Compliance
- Support AS9100, customer, and NADCAP audits.
- Provide calibration records and technical expertise during audits.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities relating to measurement systems and calibration processes.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the calibration department.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience using calibration techniques for gauges and measurement systems.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong understanding of technical operations and processes.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
- Introduction to Pyrometry (AMS2750) qualification.
- Knowledge of heat treatment processes, pyrometry, and furnace surveys to AMS2750.
- Experience with Measurement Systems Analysis and Gauge R&R studies.
