Description:
The Compliance Officer plays a key role in the day-to-day operation and continuous improvement of CoinCorner's financial crime, sanctions and regulatory compliance framework. Working closely with the postholder ensures that the business meets its obligations under the Isle of Man AML/CFT regime and applicable cross-border requirements, while enabling the business to grow responsibly.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who combines technical knowledge of AML/CFT frameworks with sound commercial judgement. We're looking for someone who can turn regulatory requirements into practical controls and work with teams across the business to apply and maintain them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the firm's AML/CFT policies, procedures and controls in line with the AML/CFT Code 2019 and the IOM AML/CFT Handbook.
- Contribute to the Business Risk Assessment and Customer Risk Assessment methodology, ensuring both remain current as products, markets and typologies evolve.
- Oversee customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD) and ongoing monitoring, including source of funds and source of wealth review.
- Review, investigate and, where appropriate, escalate internal suspicious activity reports to the MLRO, and support onward reporting to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
- Act as a subject-matter expert on virtual-asset typologies, blockchain analytics and Travel Rule obligations.
- Operate and enhance the firm's sanctions screening and controls framework, covering customer, counterparty and transaction screening.
- Lead and evidence the compliance monitoring programme, testing the effectiveness of key controls and tracking remediation to completion and preparing management information.
- Support engagement with the IOMFSA and other regulators, including responses to information requests, notifications and thematic reviews.
- Maintain compliance registers, records and management information to a standard that withstands regulatory and audit scrutiny.
Desired Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a compliance or financial crime role, ideally within a VASP, e-money, payments, banking or TCSP environment.
- Strong working knowledge of the Isle of Man AML/CFT framework or equivalent regime, including the Proceeds of Crime Act 2008, the AML/CFT Code 2019, and the IOM AML/CFT Handbook.
- An understanding of the Isle of Man Sanctions (Implementation of UK Sanctions) Regulations 2024.
- Practical experience of CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring, screening, suspicious-activity reporting, and compliance monitoring.
- A recognised compliance or financial-crime qualification (e.g. ICA / ACAMS Diploma or equivalent), or a willingness to undertake further qualifications.
- Familiarity with virtual asset compliance solutions (e.g. Chainalysis, Elliptic, TRM Labs, Notabene etc).
- Experience working across multiple regulatory regimes within the same role.
Benefits:
- Complimentary food and drinks
- On-site gym
- A day off for your birthday
- Free parking
- Regular team bonding events
- Competitive salary
- Annual bonus
- Benefit from a rewarding Staff Incentive Share Scheme
- Support with training and personal development opportunities
Even if you do not necessarily fit the profile of skills from the above, we would still love to hear from you and encourage you to apply anyway.
