We are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a dedicated Children’s Residential Home team in Wallasey (CH44). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager who is passionate about supporting children and young people and looking to progress their career within residential childcare.
Working closely with the Registered Home Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and support are consistently delivered. You will help create a safe, nurturing, and positive environment where young people can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Registered Home Manager in the effective management and operation of the home.
Deputise for the Manager in their absence, overseeing both professional and administrative responsibilities.
Ensure the delivery of high-quality residential childcare in line with policies, procedures, and National Standards.
Promote a safe, stimulating, and positive environment that supports the emotional, physical, and educational needs of young people.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with young people, families, colleagues, and external agencies.
Ensure young people’s views, wishes, and feelings are listened to and incorporated into their care.
Contribute to the planning, reviewing, and implementation of care plans.
Maintain excellent safeguarding and child protection practices.
Ensure accurate records, reports, and young people’s files are maintained to a high standard.
Support staff through supervision, coaching, development, and training.
Assist with rota planning, shift organisation, and ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
Support the development of policies, procedures, and best practice within the home.
Assist with quality monitoring, including Regulation 44 and 45 reviews.
Support educational planning and maintain effective communication with education providers.
Undertake on-call duties as part of the rota.
Support your own professional development and progression towards a Registered Manager role.
Essential Requirements:
Level 3 Diploma/NVQ in Children and Young People (essential).
Ideally working towards or holding a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience working within a Residential Children’s Home.
Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of Safeguarding, Child Protection, and Safe Care practices.
Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, Children’s Act, and Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF).
Experience completing staff supervisions and supporting team development.
Ability to maintain high-quality records and produce clear reports.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Flexible approach to rota management, including sleep-in duties.
Full UK driving licence, own vehicle, and business insurance required.
Desirable:
Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
Experience delivering training and supporting staff development.
Clear evidence of career progression and ambition to progress into a Registered Manager role.
