No split shifts. No late finishes.
The Taproom is a seasonal, ingredient-led cafe-restaurant and food-led bar on Bridge Street in St Ives. Our kitchen runs a busy daytime brunch service seven days a week, and Thursday to Saturday evenings we fire pizza from our Gozney Dome — proper dough, seasonal toppings, done fast and done well. You will be home at a normal hour, every night.
We're looking for a full-time Chef de Partie to take ownership of pizza service and hold a section on the brunch line. This is a genuine cooking job in a small, tight team where the menu changes with the seasons and the ingredients come from suppliers we know by name.
THE ROLE
You'll run pizza service on the Gozney Dome on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings — dough handling, stretching, topping, firing and running your own pass — plus occasional pop-up pizza evenings for events. The rest of your week is on the brunch line and prep: working a section during service, batch prep, and helping keep the kitchen ordered and clean. Around 35 hours over 5 days, with Thursday to Saturday availability essential.
Experience on a pizza oven is a bonus, not a requirement — if you're a solid, organised chef who can hold a busy section, we'll train you on the Dome.
ABOUT YOU
You've got real kitchen experience — at least a year working a section in a busy professional kitchen, or equivalent. You're calm and consistent under pressure, you keep your section clean and your prep labelled, and you turn up when you say you will. You care about food and want to cook things properly. Level 2 Food Hygiene preferred (we'll sort it if not).
WHAT YOU GET
£13.50 to £15.00 per hour depending on experience — hourly paid, so every hour you work is paid. Sociable hours for a chef: daytime-led, latest finish around 10pm. Share of tips and tronc. Staff discounts. Full training on the Gozney Dome. A seasonal menu you'll have a genuine voice in.
