Are you a seasoned Design Manager, a former Systems Designer, or an Operations specialist looking to step into a critical leadership role?
We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee our design operations, coordinate project deliveries, and bridge the gap between commercial pricing and practical, on-site construction.
Due to the nature of some of our projects, candidates will be required to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). This involves identity verification, employment history checks, criminal record checks, and right to work in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Design Management & Subcontractor Management: Set clear technical directions, standards, and submittal expectations for Internal and external design subcontractors. Track and manage deliverables to ensure all submittals meet quality, scope, and timeline requirements, serving as the single point of final review before client presentation.
Pricing & Scope Execution: Take the commercial handoff and carry forward what has been priced, ensuring designs remain aligned with tender scope and budgets.
Buildability Reviews: Conduct thorough buildability and technical reviews of all design drawings, details, and material schedules before approval.
System Expert: Utilise your deep understanding of industrial roofing and cladding systems to advise on technical details, performance requirements, and compliance.
Coordination & Meetings: Lead and participate in project coordination sessions and regular internal and external Teams meetings with main contractors, architects, and site teams.
Skills & Experience
Industry Expertise: Strong, hands-on knowledge of modern industrial roofing, cladding, and building envelope systems.
Background: Proven experience as a current Design Manager, Senior Designer, or former Systems Designer—or an operational background (e.g., former Site/Operations Manager with technical design expertise).
Communication: Exceptional organizational and cross-team coordination skills, with confidence leading remote Teams meetings and site workshops.
Eye for Detail: Strong ability to scrutinize design drawings and component schedules for accuracy, cost-efficiency, and buildability.
