Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Principal to lead the UK School of English, providing strong academic and operational leadership while maintaining high standards of teaching, learning, and student support.
The Principal will inspire staff, support students from diverse backgrounds, promote innovative teaching, and develop the school's academic profile. A key part of the role will be building FE and HE partnerships with colleges, universities, training providers, employers, and other educational organisations to create additional value and progression opportunities for students.
Key Duties
- Provide strategic academic and operational leadership across the UK School of English.
- Ensure high standards of English-language teaching, learning, assessment, and student support.
- Lead, mentor, and develop teaching and academic teams.
- Oversee curriculum development, quality assurance, assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Promote innovative teaching methods and effective use of technology.
- Support an inclusive and welcoming environment for international and diverse learners.
- Develop partnerships with FE colleges, universities, HE institutions, training providers, and employers.
- Create progression pathways into further and higher education, professional training, and employment.
- Develop collaborative programmes, enrichment opportunities, teacher development, and student progression initiatives.
- Represent the school professionally with educational partners and external stakeholders.
- Support strategic growth while maintaining strong academic and operational standards.
Requirements & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior educational leadership role such as Principal, Vice Principal, Director of Studies, Academic Director, Head of School, or equivalent.
- Strong teaching and academic management experience, preferably within English-language or international education.
- Experience in curriculum development, quality assurance, staff development, and student achievement.
- Experience working with FE/HE institutions, universities, colleges, training providers, or employers is highly desirable.
- Understanding of progression routes from English-language education into FE and HE.
- Excellent communication, leadership, relationship-building, and organisational skills.
- Experience supporting international and culturally diverse students.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, safeguarding, and student wellbeing.
