Highway Services Apprentice (Ref: HSA)
Salary: £24,588.72 p.a.
An excellent career opportunity has arisen within the Council’s Highways Services team for a keen, enthusiastic individual who is interested in undertaking a Level 4 – Civil Engineering Apprenticeship.
The successful applicant will work with an experienced team responsible for running the Council’s highway services and highway infrastructure projects. They will undertake on the job training for four days per week and college/study activities for one day per week, leading to a Level 4 qualification.
The duties of the role will include:
- Supporting the team with vehicle crossover applications, maintaining the public rights of way network and other highway related services. This will involve carrying out site visits and undertaking site inspections
- Support the delivery of minor highway related projects
- Liaise daily with other Council departments, external business and/or public enquiries by telephone, in person, by email and letter, promptly and professionally
- Assist with marketing and communications for the team
- Respond to resident enquiries and assist with report writing, when required.
Applicants must have good written and spoken English, good interpersonal skills and excellent attention to detail. Applicants will be educated to A-Level standard, In addition, the successful candidate must be reliable, with the ability to undertake the course of study with a positive attitude to learning and especially have an interest in the local area.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
