Welcome to Mountain Coffee, Haddington's newest and most exciting coffee shop. Nestled in the heart of the high street, we are a socially responsible business that focuses on enhancing mental health, promoting kindness, and supporting our local community.
We are seeking a Coffee Shop Cook to join our team at Mountain Coffee on an initial six-month fixed-term contract. This role has been created for a trial period to assess both the suitability of the candidate and the longer-term viability of an expanded food offering, with the potential for the role to become permanent following a successful review. This position would suit someone with a passion for cooking with fresh ingredients and experience working in a cafe or small kitchen environment. Mountain Coffee will offer breakfast, brunch and lunch between the hours of 8am – 3pm.
Responsibilities
- Cooking and preparation of breakfast, brunch and lunch menu items
- Service (front of house) during busy periods, including managing the till, restocking shelves and the baking cabinet, keeping the café clean and tidy
- Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen and adhering to all rules and regulations around food handling, storage, use-by dates etc
- Supporting the development and refinement of the food offering
- Ordering food/stock to meet anticipated demand
Skills
- Has previous experience as a cook or chef in a cafe or similar setting
- Enjoys cooking simple, high-quality food with fresh ingredients
- Is well organised and able to work efficiently in a small kitchen
- Has an excellent understanding of HACCP, food safety and allergen management
- Takes pride in consistency, quality and presentation
- Has a positive, professional and cooperative attitude
- Communicates well and works effectively as part of a small team
- Has an interest in modern cafe food and drink trends
- Is energic, reliable and keen to contribute ideas
Pay: £12.71 per hour
