Grade 6: £35,681 - £41,636 per annum including the Oxford University weighting of £1,730 per annum

The Assessment Manager plays a key role within the School’s Student and Academic Services department, providing end-to-end operational management of assessment across an assigned portfolio of accredited degree and diploma programmes.
Reporting to the Senior Assessment Manager, the role is responsible for planning, coordinating and administering a wide range of assessment activities, including examinations, assignments, projects, presentations and class participation, ensuring that all processes are delivered accurately, efficiently and in accordance with University regulations and School policies. The postholder works closely with academic and professional services colleagues and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Programme Directors, Examiners, Assessors, Examination Schools, the Proctors’ Office, Colleges and central University teams, to support the smooth delivery of assessments and an excellent student experience.
The role requires exceptional organisational and communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities within a complex regulatory environment. The successful candidate will be proactive, professional and collaborative, capable of working independently while contributing effectively to the wider team, and will develop expert knowledge of University assessment regulations and procedures in order to provide authoritative advice and guidance to students, academics and professional services colleagues while supporting continuous improvement across assessment processes.
Key responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate and deliver assessment activities throughout the academic year, ensuring accurate and timely administration of examinations, assignments and related processes.
- Manage assessment systems, records and data, including registrations, submissions, resits, marks, results and feedback, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate examinations, marking processes and Examination Boards, working effectively with faculty, Examiners, Programme Managers and University teams.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to students, faculty and colleagues on assessment policies, regulations, procedures and individual queries.
- Manage sensitive and confidential assessment matters, including plagiarism and disciplinary cases, Subject Access Requests and student information, in line with University and data protection requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of assessment systems and processes, contribute to projects, reporting and analysis, and provide supervision or support to colleagues as required.
