About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Machine Driver / Plant Operator to join our growing team, working across a variety of construction sites in and around Kent.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of construction plant and machinery, supporting groundworks, earthworks and general site activities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, operates machinery safely and efficiently, and works well as part of a wider site team.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating construction plant and machinery safely and efficiently across various sites.
- Operating excavators, dumpers and other plant machinery, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Carrying out excavation, earthmoving, grading and site preparation works.
- Assisting with foundations, drainage, trenches and other groundworks.
- Loading, moving and distributing materials safely around site.
- Working closely with groundworkers, site managers and other trades to ensure projects run efficiently.
- Carrying out daily checks and basic maintenance of machinery.
- Reporting any defects, faults or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Following site plans, drawings and instructions where required.
- Ensuring excavation and earthworks are completed accurately and to the required specification.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working area.
- Adhering to all company and site health and safety procedures.
- Taking responsibility for the safe operation of machinery and the safety of those working around it.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in operating construction plant and machinery.
- Competent and confident operating machinery on active construction sites.
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
- Safety-conscious with a strong understanding of site procedures.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of following instructions and working from site plans or drawings where required.
- Flexible and willing to travel between sites across Kent and surrounding areas.
- Careful and responsible when operating machinery around other workers, services and structures.
- Committed to producing high-quality work and maintaining professional standards.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Machine Driver, Plant Operator or similar construction role.
- Relevant CPCS or NPORS qualifications.
- CSCS card.
- Experience within groundworks, earthworks or civil engineering.
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Additional plant or lifting qualifications would be advantageous.
