The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to lead, support and develop our team of 10 remote bookkeepers. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical bookkeeping expertise with people management and process improvement.
You’ll work primarily in our Haslemere, Surrey office. However, we are open to discussing 1 day a week working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor and support a local and remote team of 10 bookkeepers
- Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping operations and workload allocation
- Ensure high standards of accuracy, compliance and timeliness across all client accounts
- Review bookkeeping work and provide constructive feedback
- Act as a point of escalation for technical bookkeeping queries
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members
- Improve and maintain bookkeeping processes and internal controls
- Liaise with senior management on performance, capacity and reporting
- Foster a positive, engaged and accountable remote team culture
- Suggest and implement improvements for the bookkeeping process
- Onboard new Spondoo clients in relation to their bookkeeping, assigning and distributing work amongst the team effectively.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, ideally in a practice or multi-client environment
- Previous experience managing or supervising a team
- Strong knowledge of UK bookkeeping standards and processes
- Confident using accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Zoho Books)
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable managing a fully remote team
- Proactive, detail-oriented and solutions-focused

- Primarely based in our office in Haslemere, Surrey but open to 1 day a week working remotely.
- Full-time applicants preferred but we are open to a 3 or 4-day working week for the right candidate
