Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Greenkeeping Assistant to support the upkeep and aesthetic enhancement of our outdoor spaces. This role involves working across the golf course, gardens and various landscaping, horticultural, and maintenance tasks to ensure the grounds and buildings are well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, practical skills in using hand and power tools as well as driven machinery and a passion for outdoor environment care. This paid position offers valuable experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, and construction-related activities within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine golf course and garden maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to uphold and improve the visual quality and playability of an improving golf course
- Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators and irrigation systems with proper safety procedures
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively for repairs, installations, and general maintenance tasks
- Assist with construction projects related to outdoor structures, roads and lodge bases and pathways as required
- Conduct gardening activities including planting, weeding, mulching, and soil preparation
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use and proper functioning
- Support seasonal tasks such as leaf clearance and snow removal during adverse weather conditions
- Conduct regular inspections of grounds to identify potential hazards or areas requiring attention
- Collaborate with team members to complete scheduled maintenance efficiently
Experience
- Prior experience in landscape maintenance, gardening or horticulture is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge related to garden machinery and power tools is advantageous
- Familiarity with using hand tools such as spades, rakes, pruners, and shovels
- Experience operating equipment like excavators or similar machinery is beneficial but not essential
- Knowledge of irrigation systems installation and maintenance is preferred
- Practical understanding of general maintenance tasks
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions with physical stamina for manual tasks
