Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant over the age of 18 to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining the smooth operation of our kitchen environment, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and support for our chefs and service staff. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to contribute to a high standard of food service within a busy hospitality setting. Previous experience in food preparation or hospitality is advantageous but not mandatory, as full training will be provided.
Duties
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as directed by senior kitchen staff
- Ensure all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitised according to health and safety standards
- Support the organisation of kitchen storage areas, including organising supplies and ingredients
- Help with the disposal of waste and recycling in accordance with environmental procedures
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment by regularly cleaning surfaces, floors, and equipment
- Support the delivery of excellent customer service by assisting with serving food and beverages when required
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy periods
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen hygiene standards is beneficial
- Experience in serving or working within a culinary setting can be an advantage
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations relevant to food service environments is preferred
- A positive attitude towards teamwork and willingness to learn new skills are highly valued
