Job Summary and Key Responsibilities:
One of the UK’s most inspiring and best-known faith-based organisations are looking for a Community Mission Assistant to join our team in Gravesend, to assist in the delivery of community spiritual programmes and activities within the Corps and local community to support the successful deliver of our mission.
The successful applicant will help us in our mission to serve the communities within Gravesend. This role will support the development of our existing Christ-centred community programmes ensuring they are effective responses to the issues that are affecting the vulnerable members of our communities.
As the Community Mission Assistant, you will have:

The ability and willingness to support the fulfilment of the spiritual aims of the programme, showing compassion and understanding to all programme participants and be willing to support an individual’s spiritual needs

The motivation and willingness to support your local community

The ability to follow instructions, perform tasks in a timely manner

Have good communication skills and the ability to convey information to programme participants and colleagues in an effective manner

Good interpersonal skills

A good level of both written and spoken English, as well numeracy required to enable to fulfil your duties within the role

A basic knowledge of the MS Office Package

Embody the values of compassion, dignity and service, working to support with individuals and families across Gravesend, supporting those on the margins and encouraging partnership working.

The ability to speak another East European language such as Czech and Slovak is desirable.

The ability to assist the Roma Community with the completion of various local authority forms and applications
This role has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be a committed and practising Christian, actively involved with your own Church and will be in sympathy with the doctrines of, and supportive of, the purposes and the aims and objectives of The Salvation Army.
This role also has an occupational requirement that the successful candidate must be able to converse in the language - Roma.
