We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a desire to learn in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role is essential in supporting the kitchen staff with meal preparation, food safety, and ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly. Previous experience in catering or restaurants is advantageous but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of meals and ingredients, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Support chefs with cooking tasks, including chopping, slicing, and assembling dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Help with serving meals during busy periods, ensuring timely delivery to customers.
- Manage stock levels by assisting in inventory control and reporting any shortages.
- Participate in cleaning duties after service, including washing dishes and sanitising work surfaces.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
Requirements
- Previous kitchen experience or culinary training is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and practices.
- Experience in meal preparation and food preparation techniques is beneficial.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new cooking techniques and contribute creatively to menu items.
