Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activities Co-ordinator/Care Assistant to join our dedicated team at Restgarth a care home specialising in older adult care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by organising engaging activities and providing personalised support. Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or dementia and Alzheimer's care is highly desirable. Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including reminiscence therapy, arts and crafts, games, and outings.
- Provide companionship and support to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
- Assist residents with daily routines as needed, including mobility support and personal care tasks related to activity participation.
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities, documenting progress and feedback for care planning purposes.
- Foster a warm, inclusive environment that promotes socialisation, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate closely with the care team to identify individual needs and preferences, ensuring personalised activity plans are implemented effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted and resident participation.
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, care home or nursing home settings is preferred, particularly with older adult care or dementia/Alzheimer’s care.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- A caring attitude with genuine empathy towards older adults requiring specialised support.
- Knowledge of dementia care techniques and person-centred approaches is advantageous.
- Ability to organise and lead activities confidently while ensuring safety standards are upheld.
- Flexibility to work as part of a team in a caring environment that values compassion and professionalism.
