We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Trainee Utility Surveyor to join our growing team based across our Worcester and Bristol offices. No previous utility surveying experience is required—we’re looking for the right attitude, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
About the Role
As a Junior Trainee Utility Surveyor, you will work alongside experienced surveyors to assist in locating, mapping, and recording underground utilities using industry-leading survey equipment and software. You’ll receive structured on-the-job training while developing the technical skills needed to become a qualified Utility Surveyor.
The role involves a combination of fieldwork, office-based processing, and travel to project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with underground utility surveys on a variety of projects.
- Learn to operate specialist survey equipment, including GPR and electromagnetic locating instruments.
- Support senior surveyors with site setup and data collection.
- Process survey data and assist in producing accurate utility drawings.
- Follow company quality procedures and health & safety standards.
- Maintain survey equipment and company vehicles.
- Represent the company professionally while on client sites.
- Develop technical knowledge through training and mentoring.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Willingness to travel and occasionally stay away from home when required.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
Desirable:
- GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
- Interest in surveying, engineering, construction, or utilities.
- CSCS card (training can be provided).
