An exciting opportunity has arisen for talented medically trained individuals to support commercial clinical research within NHS Grampian (NHSG) and be part of the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition at the University of Aberdeen.
This post is suitable for clinicians that have completed Foundation training in the United Kingdom. It will provide an opportunity to work with a number of internationally renowned clinical researchers running major trials in several disciplines, including cardiology, geriatric medicine, hepatology, infectious diseases, respiratory medicine and others. It is an ideal opportunity for individuals to obtain experience in research whilst building on their clinical skills.
Clinical responsibilities as Clinical Research Fellow will include clinical examination at screening and trial monitoring for patients participating in commercially sponsored trials. Experience will be gained in all aspects of study set-up and delivery as a member of a number of clinical research teams which will usually have a Medical consultant as PI and a research nurse. Additional support in research skills and mentoring will be provided by NHSG Research & Development department and the University of Aberdeen. There is an extensive training programme in house, which covers all aspects of healthcare research for NHS staff. In addition you will participate in activities for the University of Aberdeen Medical School research fellows. You will be encouraged to go to relevant training courses.
This post has been created to support the recruitment, delivery and completion of non-commercial and commercially sponsored cancer and non-cancer studies and ensure compliance with Research Governance Framework. The post requires provision of clinical knowledge and skills which cannot be delegated to non-medical staff. There will be a session per week to develop your own research interest dependant on the activity vaccine trials. The post holder will work very closely with the NHS Grampian Clinical Research Fellow supporting the Grampian Commercial Research Delivery Centre and provide resilience and support to achieve the objectives of the joint Grampian Research Office of the University of Aberdeen and NHSG.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the salary scale for clinical academics below the level of consultant, £52,229 per annum, pro rata.
