The Old School Henstead is looking for an experienced EYFS Practitioners to join our team.
The successful candidate will support the teaching and learning of pupils aged 9 months -5 years, with key person responsibility for a group of nursery pupils. They will also be required to contribute to and support the planning and delivery of the EYFS curriculum, completing observations and planning activities for children, with a requirement to also lead small groups in phonics, maths and other areas. They should be a creative, team player who loves and understands child-led learning.
Our exciting EYFS department provides an excellent foundation for learning; ensuring that when the children enter school full-time, they are independent, confident, have good social and communication skills, ready to face the challenges ahead.
We are a rural preparatory school and nursery, offering a superb education to boys and girls aged 9 months to 11 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- supporting children’s day-to-day needs in the EYFS building
- scaffolding and extending children’s ideas and experiences as they learn through play
- completing observations and planning activities for children
- leading small groups in phonics, maths and circle time
- building strong relationships with children, parents and staff members
- supporting planning and curriculum design
- being the key person for a group of our pupils
- monitoring, assessing and recording children's progress
- ensuring all health and safety and safeguarding procedures are being followed
- assisting with break and lunch duties and mealtime support
- contributing relevant observations to our in-the-moment planning system to support the child-led curriculum we offer
- supporting the wider life of the school
- undertaking nappy changing, supporting children when dressing/changing
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
- experience working with EYFS-aged children (required)
- full and relevant EYFS qualification at Level 2 or higher (required)
- strong understanding of, or experience delivering, phonics at EYFS level. (desired)
- experience planning and delivering effective, child-centered continuous and enhanced provision (required)
- thorough understanding of the EYFS framework (required)
- able to communicate effectively with other staff members and build positive relationships (required)
- experience working with babies and infants under 24 months (desired)
- experience using online learning journals (desired)
- recent Paediatric First Aid Certificate (desired)
Additional requirements:
- able to work both independently and as part of a team
- able to follow instructions accurately and effectively
- able to pass an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
Working Hours:
The Nursery currently operates during term time only (34 weeks a year).
This full-time position is for the hours of 8:15am-4.15pm 5 days a week, Term-time only plus 5.6 weeks statutory holiday.
