Millenium Site Services UK Ltd is looking for a Shopfloor Operative to join our team at Haydock Road, Derby. This role suits someone who has already built a solid foundation in shopfloor work and is ready to take on more independent, hands-on responsibility across our paint, GRP, powder coating, and engineering departments.
As a Level 2 operative, you'll work with a good degree of independence, carrying out demasking, finishing, and preparation tasks to a consistent standard — while supporting less experienced colleagues coming up through the ranks.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out all core shopfloor tasks independently and to a consistent standard
- Demasking finished components — removing tape, plugs, and masking materials cleanly without damaging the finish
- Inspecting demasked components for finish quality, flagging any defects or damage to a supervisor
- Boring holes and carrying out basic drilling operations to specified dimensions
- Basic finishing operations: deburring, dressing edges, and cleaning up post-process
- Preparing finished components for delivery — wrapping, protecting, labelling, and loading correctly
- Reading and understanding job cards independently to identify next steps
- Supporting and guiding Level 1 operatives on routine tasks
What We're Looking For
- Previous shopfloor/production experience
- Confident using hand tools, including a hand drill, tape measure, and basic gauges
- A good understanding of PPE and COSHH requirements
- Strong attention to detail, particularly around finish quality and defect identification
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of routine tasks
- A reliable, safety-first attitude
