Shift pattern: Varied shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm

The YMCA is looking for a Trainee Nursery Manager to join their nursery in Stourbridge, supporting the day-to-day running of the setting and developing your leadership skills alongside the Nursery Manager.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has strong Early Years experience and is ready to take on greater responsibility, lead a team and progress towards Nursery Management.

What will you be doing?
As Trainee Nursery Manager, you’ll work closely with the Nursery Manager to support the successful running of the setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day running of the nursery, stepping up in their absence
- Leading, supporting and mentoring childcare practitioners to deliver high-quality care and Early Years education
- Helping ensure the nursery meets EYFS, safeguarding, Ofsted and YMCA requirements
- Supporting with staff rotas, training, supervision and team development
- Building positive relationships with children, parents and professionals
- Supporting with children's development records, health and safety, risk assessments and other nursery administration
What are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is ready to step up and take on more responsibility.
You’ll ideally have:
- Level 3 Diploma in Early Years – essential
- Previous experience in a senior childcare, Room Leader, Senior Practitioner or similar role
- A strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- The confidence and ability to lead, motivate and support a team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A genuine passion for children’s development, wellbeing and learning
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
- An enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one
Most importantly, you'll be someone who wants to develop, take ownership and progress their career in Early Years leadership.
