We have an excellent opportunity to join the team as Activities Lead Coordinator at our luxury nursing home at Bridge of Weir.
We believe that meaningful activities contribute greatly to residents' physical, emotional, and mental well-being. We are now seeking a Lead Activities Coordinator to work 40 hours per week and to lead our activities team and design engaging, purposeful programs that enhance the quality of life for our residents.
About the Role:
As the Lead Activities Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing a wide range of activities tailored to meet the interests, abilities, and needs of our residents. You will lead and inspire a team of Activity Coordinators, ensuring they deliver a vibrant activities program that promotes socialisation, independence, and enjoyment. Your role will also include liaising with residents and their families to understand preferences and gather feedback to continually improve our offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Design and coordinate a varied calendar of events and activities that stimulate physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being, incorporating group and one-on-one sessions.
- Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and support the activities team, providing training and guidance to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
- Resident Engagement: Build relationships with residents to understand their interests and needs, adapting activities to accommodate preferences and abilities.
- Communication and Liaison: Collaborate with residents' families and care staff to keep them informed about planned activities and to encourage participation.
- Special Events Planning: Organize special events and celebrations for holidays, birthdays, and cultural observances to create memorable experiences for residents.
- Community Involvement: Establish connections with local organizations, schools, and volunteers to bring additional activities and community involvement to residents.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in a safe manner, following health and safety guidelines and infection control protocols.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of activities through feedback, attendance, and engagement levels, making adjustments as necessary to continually improve the program.
- Budget Management: Oversee the activities budget, sourcing materials and resources efficiently to create a high-quality program while controlling costs.
About You:
You are a compassionate, enthusiastic, and creative individual with experience in planning and delivering activities within a care home, healthcare, or similar setting. With strong leadership skills, you are capable of managing a team and inspiring them to bring energy and joy to their work. You’re highly organized and have a talent for designing activities that are both enjoyable and beneficial for residents.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in an Activities Coordinator role, ideally with some experience in a leadership or supervisory position
- Understanding of the needs and interests of older adults, especially those with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with residents, families, and staff effectively
- Ability to design varied, engaging activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Budget management experience
- Right to work in the UK
