This is a varied and rewarding role combining wraparound childcare, classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant, and sports coaching.
We require the successful candidate to run one of our Breakfast Clubs, support children in school as a Teaching Assistant, assist with lunchtime supervision, deliver sports coaching sessions, and run our after-school Kids Club.
This varied position will give you a broad understanding of school life and help you develop the skills needed to support children both academically and physically. You will play an important role in encouraging children’s learning, confidence, teamwork, physical activity and overall well-being.
You will need to be a committed team player with excellent organisational and communication skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for working with children. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about child development, sport and physical activity, and creating fun, inclusive experiences for children of different ages and abilities.

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, Kids Club Assistant and Sports Coach, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, engaging, active and nurturing environment for children.
The position involves supporting children in the classroom, supervising children during wraparound care, and planning and delivering fun, inclusive sports and physical activity sessions.
The successful candidate will be confident working with children aged 4–12 and will be able to adapt their approach to suit different ages, abilities and individual needs. You should be able to motivate children, encourage participation and create a positive environment where every child feels included.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage with children aged 4–12 in a safe, welcoming and positive environment.
- Support teachers and pupils in the classroom as a Teaching Assistant.
- Assist children with their learning, development and individual needs.
- Run and support Breakfast Club and after-school Kids Club sessions.
- Plan and deliver fun, engaging and age-appropriate sports coaching sessions.
- Coach a range of sports and physical activities, which may include football, basketball, dodgeball, hockey and multi-sports.
- Adapt sports sessions to suit different ages, abilities and confidence levels.
- Encourage children to develop teamwork, communication, confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards physical activity.
- Ensure sports sessions are inclusive and that all children are encouraged to participate.
- Set up, check and safely store sports equipment before and after sessions.
- Carry out appropriate safety checks and ensure sports activities are delivered in a safe environment.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity and social interaction.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised environment for children to play, learn and take part in activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and school staff regarding children’s experiences and any concerns that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety procedures at all times.
- Support children in developing social skills and resolving conflicts positively.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of activities and events within the Kids Club.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, school staff and other Rhino Sports Academy team members.
- Act as a positive role model and represent Rhino Sports Academy professionally at all times.
- Support sports clubs, PE curriculum sessions, holiday camps and other activities across the business when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, nursery, sports coaching or similar setting is beneficial.
- Previous sports coaching experience is highly desirable.
- A background in early childhood education, physical education or sports coaching would be beneficial.
- A recognised sports coaching qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
- The ability and confidence to lead groups of children in sports and physical activities.
- Good knowledge of a range of sports and the ability to adapt activities for different ages and abilities.
- Strong leadership and behaviour-management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children, parents, teachers and colleagues.
- A valid driving licence and access to a car is essential.
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development through education, childcare and physical activity.
- A positive, energetic and enthusiastic approach to work.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
- First Aid qualification would be beneficial.
- A clear DBS check is required prior to starting.

Hours
7:30am–8:45am – Breakfast Club
8:45am–12:00pm – Teaching Assistant
12:00pm–1:00pm – Lunchtime Supervisor
1:00pm-3:30pm - PE
3:30pm–5:30pm – Kids Club / After-School Sports Clubs
*Lunch breaks will be between 30-60 minutes depending on the day.
Additional sports coaching, PE curriculum delivery and holiday camp hours may be available depending on the needs of the business.

Rhino Sports Academy are experts in sports coaching, teaching and childcare provision throughout Northamptonshire. We currently work with a wide range of schools across Northampton and are looking to grow the business further this year.
We offer a range of childcare provision, including Breakfast Clubs and Kids Clubs. A large part of our work also focuses on sports coaching, and we deliver a wide variety of activities including football, basketball, dodgeball, hockey and multi-sports throughout the school day and beyond.
Our team works across several areas of school life, including Teaching Assistant support, PE curriculum delivery, lunchtime activities, before-school clubs and after-school clubs.
We also run holiday camps during the school holidays at various locations. Children can take part in a range of activities, including Arts & Crafts, Performing Arts and Multi-Sports.
