About the role and Galtres Lodge
Galtres Lodge is a 14 bedroom hotel, and 75 cover restaurant, located on one of York’s busiest streets, Low Petergate. We want an developing restaurant manager to take a key role in helping us get to where we want to be. As restaurant manager, you would work alongside the General Manager and owners to develop the business. This is a new role, as the restaurant has previously operated with a duty manager/shift leader during service, but we are wanting somebody to manage the restaurant on a larger scale, not only looking after service, but also planning, developing, and co-ordinating things outside of service too, to help make substantial improvements to the business as a whole. We love new ideas and enthusiasm, and we want somebody to really push our restaurant forwards in all areas.
Purpose and objectives of the role
The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the restaurant and its staff. The ultimate goal of all Galtres Lodge employees is to support the delivery of excellent customer service.
Specifically this position is going to be an evening role, taking charge of the evening service while occasionally covering for the General Manager during the day.
Objectives include:
· Maintain and develop the quality of the restaurant product.
· To ensure excellent customer service through the effective management and training of restaurant staff.
· Achieve of the agreed restaurant sales/revenue targets and maintain cost parameters.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Recruit, train and supervise staff
- Ensure all food safety procedures are strictly followed according to sanitary regulations
- Work closely with management to meet revenue objectives
- Implement appropriate strategies to resolve adverse trends and improve sales
- Follow company policies and procedures regarding the handling of cash, property, products and equipment
- Audit inventory levels to ensure product availability, and order products as necessary
- Handle customer complaints and queries
- Promote and market the business
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and licensing laws
- Follow all company safety and security procedures
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards
- Observe and report damage of hotel property
Special Requirements
· The ability to work well under pressure.
· Be able to take ownership of any problems, including complaints, and be able to think clearly to resolve any issues.
The key quality we are looking for is someone that is dedicated to service. This is not an office job you will be on the floor for 90% of your time.

Pay: £15.00-£16.00 per hour
