Activities Assistant / Play Worker – Casual/Cover/Bank Staff (Zero Hours Contract)
£12.75 – £14.00 per hour | Southwark
Magna Groups, an Ofsted‑registered childcare provider, is seeking enthusiastic Activities Assistants / Play Workers to join our teams on a casual, zero‑hours basis. This role is ideal for individuals looking for flexible work supporting children aged 5–11 in our Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs.
Location; Southwark – must be able to commute to SE1 / SE15 / SE16 / SE22
Hours (Flexible, As Needed)
- Breakfast Club: 7:30am – 9:00am
- Afterschool Club: 2:30pm – 6:00pm
Shifts offered based on site requirements – no guaranteed hours
Pay: £12.75 – £14.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Key Responsibilities
- Support and deliver fun, age‑appropriate activities for children aged 5–11
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging play environment
- Encourage children’s social, emotional, and physical development through play
- Build positive relationships with children, parents, and team members
- Maintain clean, safe, and organised activity spaces
- Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times
About You
- Experience working with children (play work, childcare, education, or similar)
- Passionate, reliable, and confident engaging with children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
- Able to work independently and adapt to different settings
Desirable (but not essential):
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Play work
- Paediatric First Aid qualification
