Electrical Estimator
We are looking for an Electrical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating the costs of electrical installations across a wide range of industrial applications and associated works.
The role will involve assessing project requirements, preparing accurate and competitive quotations, determining labour and material costs, and working closely with clients and other project stakeholders to establish the full scope of works.
The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, analytical, and commercially aware, with strong knowledge of electrical regulations and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Check electrical drawings and specifications to identify cable and wire lengths, outlet positions, equipment requirements, and other installation needs in accordance with current electrical regulations.
- Calculate the quantity, type, and cost of materials, equipment, fixtures, and labour required for each project.
- Estimate labour requirements and determine realistic project durations.
- Prepare and submit accurate, competitive project tenders and quotations in to strict deadlines.
- Source and compare current market rates for materials, equipment, subcontractors, and associated services to ensure competitive and accurate project pricing.
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, architects, suppliers, and other construction professionals to clarify project requirements and scope.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and contribute to ongoing cost and project analysis.
- Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure projects are accurately priced and commercially viable.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Estimator or in a similar electrical estimating role.
- Full, valid UK driving licence.
- Relevant electrical qualifications.
- Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification and AM2.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Valid electrician's qualification/licence as applicable.
- Strong understanding of electrical installations, regulations, and industry practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and project management, work-tracking, or planning software.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and building plans.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines.
Desirable
- Previous experience estimating electrical works within industrial or commercial environments.
- Experience with tendering and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of current electrical installation costs and market rates.
- Ability to communicate in Welsh would be an advantage.
