Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Assistant to provide specialist assistance to students with visual, mobility or manual dexterity difficulties. Your role is to give the student control, choice and flexibility in a safe environment, allowing full participation in practical classroom activities.
Duties
- To provide specialist practical support with equipment in studios / architectural workshops and in computer laboratories with PC operation and data input.
- In scientific laboratories, to help with specialist equipment set up / use and the undertaking of experiments in scientific laboratories.
- Reading instructions (when needed)
- Recording experiment results
- Provide accurate and comprehensive electronic note-taking during lectures and other academic activities.
Experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology is vital.

Your role is to give the student control, choice and flexibility in a safe environment, allowing full participation in practical activities.
Duties
· To help with specialist equipment set up / use and the undertaking of experiments in scientific laboratories including the ability to work independently.
· Reading instructions (when needed)
· Recording experiment results
· Provide accurate and comprehensive electronic note-taking.
· Experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology is vital. The group is a synthetic biology group working with engineering E.coli. The majority of the lab work will involve common microbiology and molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, cloning, miniprep, and microbial cultures.
· The research project is about motility and quorum sensing in E.coli, with the aim of engineering spatial patterning.
Pay: £15.00 per hour
