Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Cafe Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering high standards of service and have a keen eye for detail. Previous experience in a café or food service setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a hospitality environment.
Duties
- Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring prompt service
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as assembling sandwiches, salads, or baked goods
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, dining areas, and equipment in accordance with food safety standards
- Serve customers in a courteous manner, ensuring a positive experience
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
- Restock supplies and ensure the café is well-presented at all times
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently to uphold food safety standards
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure smooth operations
Skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
- Barista experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for those new to coffee preparation
- Experience in serving customers
- Basic food preparation skills, such as assembling snacks or drinks
- Good organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Strong communication skills with a friendly and professional attitude
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
