Laboratory Technician – Water Treatment
Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support laboratory operations within a water treatment environment. The role involves carrying out routine and specialised testing and analysis of water samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing stock levels of chemicals and consumables, and ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting water treatment projects through accurate testing, reporting, and effective laboratory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and non-routine testing and analysis of water, wastewater, and process samples in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Perform laboratory testing to support water treatment projects, including chemical dosing, process optimisation, and performance verification.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and testing materials for analysis.
- Record, interpret, and report analytical results accurately and within required timeframes.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and servicing schedules are followed.
- Manage laboratory stock levels, including chemicals, consumables, PPE, and testing materials; raise purchase requests when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment in line with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality procedures and assist with documentation and record keeping.
- Support troubleshooting and investigation of water quality or treatment performance issues.
- Liaise with project teams, operations staff, and technical personnel regarding sample results and testing requirements.
- Dispose of laboratory waste safely and in accordance with company procedures.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within water treatment, environmental, chemical, or industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing methods and analytical techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording data.
- Good organisational skills, including stock control and inventory management.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and laboratory reporting systems.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualification in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water Treatment, Laboratory Science, or similar discipline.
- Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001 or UKAS laboratory standards.

Pay: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
