The Role
Plus Education Recruitment & Tuition UK Ltd works in partnership with secondary schools across Crosby, Litherland, Maghull, Liverpool and Southport, providing short- and long-term Exam Invigilator opportunities on a supply basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, dedicated team of invigilators supporting schools throughout the academic year, with increased opportunities during the spring, summer and autumn examination periods.
Previous experience as an exam invigilator is desirable, although relevant experience working with young people, education or within a regulated environment will also be considered.
Candidates must be confident supporting students who require access arrangements, including reading and/or scribing. You will need a good standard of written and spoken English, be confident working with students and be able to follow examination rules, regulations and procedures as directed by the school's Exams Officer.
A calm, supportive and professional approach is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
As an Exam Invigilator, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing examination rooms in accordance with the school's requirements.
- Supporting the start and smooth running of examinations in a variety of settings, including small rooms with individual students or larger examination halls.
- Ensuring all required examination equipment and materials are available and correctly positioned.
- Supervising students throughout examinations and ensuring examination rules and regulations are followed.
- Maintaining a calm, quiet and appropriate examination environment.
- Identifying and reporting any issues or concerns to the Exams Officer or appropriate member of staff.
- Supporting students who need to leave the examination room in accordance with examination procedures.
- Providing approved access arrangements, including reading and/or scribing, where required.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school safeguarding policies and examination regulations.
- Working collaboratively with the school's Exams Officer and fellow invigilators.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
- Have a good standard of English literacy.
- Be confident and comfortable working with secondary-age students.
- Be reliable, punctual and professional.
- Have the ability to remain calm and attentive for extended periods.
- Be able to follow detailed instructions, rules and examination procedures.
- Have a supportive and encouraging attitude towards students.
- Be able to work effectively as part of a small, dedicated team.
- Be flexible and available to work across different examination dates where possible.
- Have previous exam invigilation experience (desirable, but not essential).
- Be confident reading and/or scribing for students requiring approved access arrangements.
