The Leith Hill Practice is a friendly, well-established GP practice providing high-quality primary care to our local community. We are looking to recruit an experienced and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our clinical team on a part-time, permanent basis (20-25 hours per week).
Working across our two practice sites, you will play an important role in supporting patient care by delivering a professional, efficient and patient-centred phlebotomy service.
We operate across two sites:
- The Old Forge Surgery, 168 The Street, Capel, RH5 5EN
- Northbrook Surgery, Warwick Road, South Holmwood, RH5 4NP
Due to limited public transport links, access to your own transport is essential.
About the Role
As a Phlebotomist, you will work closely with our GPs, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants to provide a safe, high-quality venepuncture service for patients of all ages. You will also support the smooth running of clinics by maintaining clinical equipment, ensuring accurate record keeping and delivering excellent patient care.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced phlebotomist looking for a rewarding role within a supportive primary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture safely and efficiently for patients of all ages.
- Collect, label and prepare blood samples for transportation in accordance with Practice and laboratory protocols.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and maintain clear clinical records using the Practice clinical system.
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms, ensuring equipment and consumables are available for clinics.
- Monitor and replenish phlebotomy stock and clinical consumables as required.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Participate in mandatory training and maintain professional competencies.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working as a Phlebotomist in a GP Practice, NHS or healthcare setting.
- Competency in venepuncture with excellent clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A caring, professional and patient-focused approach.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence using IT systems (experience with Systmone desirable but not essential).
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
