Job Title: Ships Agent (with Stock Control & Administration)

About the role:
We are recruiting a reliable Ships Agent to manage vessel port calls, liaise with ship crews and port authorities, handle customs and port documentation and support stock control and general administration. Training will be provided on our bespoke stock control system. The role operates on a rota and will require some out of hours and weekend working.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate vessel arrivals and departures; manage port-call logistics and berthing arrangements
- Prepare and process ship documentation (customs, port, bunker, and agenting paperwork)
- Act as primary contact for ship masters, owners, port authorities, and service providers
- Track and report vessel movements and ETA/ETD changes
- Maintain accurate stock records, perform stock counts and reconcile discrepancies using our bespoke stock control system (training provided)
- General administrative duties: data entry, filing, invoicing support, and email/phone correspondence
- Work on a rota, including some weekend shifts, to provide cover for vessel operations
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and port regulations
Required qualifications & skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel data manipulation
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Customer service focused, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a small team
Desirable
- Previous experience as a Shipping Agent or in a related field (salary reflects level of agent experience)
- Experience with stock control or warehouse systems
- Knowledge of port procedures, customs documentation, or maritime terminology

Pay: £33,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
