Kitchen Team Member
Location: Central London
Contract: Full-time and part-time positions available
Pay: From £14.50 per hour (central London market rate; see note on pay below)
Role purpose
To prepare and cook menu items to specification and at pace, keeping the kitchen clean, safe and well organised, and supporting the wider kitchen team through service.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook dishes to the restaurant's recipes, portion and presentation standards.
- Work a section during service, plating food quickly and consistently.
- Keep work stations, equipment and storage clean and organised (clean as you go).
- Follow food safety, HACCP, allergen and stock rotation (FIFO) procedures.
- Receive, check and store deliveries correctly and flag any shortages.
- Monitor stock levels and help minimise waste.
- Support wash-up and end-of-shift deep cleaning and close-down as needed.
Person specification — essential
- Able to work cleanly, safely and at pace in a hot, busy kitchen.
- A good understanding of food safety and allergen control.
- A reliable team player who takes direction well and stays calm under pressure.
- Reliable and punctual, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
Person specification — desirable
- Previous kitchen, commis or kitchen assistant experience.
- A culinary qualification (e.g. NVQ or City & Guilds).
- Familiarity with the restaurant's cuisine or menu style.
Other requirements
- Right to work in the UK
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certificate, or willingness to obtain one on joining.
Pay: £4.00-£4.50 per hour
